VTTA 25 MILE TT 31st August 2008 Q25/12

The Kent cycles riders were in action again this weekend with Carole Gandy and Garry Banfield taking the spoils.Carole won the event OAS with a +21.58 her time was 1.01.46.Garry Banfield was fastest on the day finishing in 55.11 beating Phil Bull VC Elan by 7 secs.Antony Bee put in another fast time of 56.55, Paul Burrows continued his comeback from a knee injury with a solid 58.07 and with Derek Howlett doing a seasons PB finishing in 59.47.

Kent Cycles RC would like to wish Ian Sutton SFACC a speedy recovery after being hit by a car on this event and was taken to hospital with a broken collarbone.

Gravesened 10 mile TT and 25 mile TT inc the 83rd Ramsey cup

Gravesend held their 10 and 25 mile tt over the bank holiday weekend.On Saturday in the 10 fastest Kent cycles rider was Paul Burrows with a 22.22 to finish 4th ,5th was Malcolm Davies 22.34,7th was Antony Bee which was enough to win the team.Derek Howlett finished 11th in 24.02,Carole Gandy was fastest lady finishing with 24.35 and Carole was also first OAS, the event winner was Ben Instone 20.47.

In the 25 on Sunday Malcolm Davies was 3rd 57.42 Paul Burrows 4th 59.10 and Derek Howlett 7th 1.1.44 which also meant they won the Ramsey cup for the 3rd year running,event winner was Gary Birch 57.18.Kent cycles also won the combined event team prize with Davies,Burrows and Howlett and Davies finished 2nd over the two days.

Malcolm Davies was the fastest Kent Cycles rider in the 58th Roy Enfield 50 mile TT in a time of 1.59.37 to take 3rd place.Garry Banfield was 4th in 2.0.18 and with Ben Ward coming home in 2.4.05 Kent Cycles took the team award as well.Derek Howlett finished 11th in 2.8.09.The event winner was Gary Birch VC Elan 1.57.51.

Kent Cycling Association 12 Hour TT

August 13th, 2008

Garry Banfield has again won the local 12 hour time trial with a very impressive 266 miles in far from ideal conditions. He beat Andy Miles (Gemini BC) into second place with 249 miles and Ian Sutton (San Fairy Ann CC) was third with 248 Miles - well done to every one who took part and finished.

Southern Counties Cycling Union 100 mile TT

July 27th, 2008

Malcolm Davies riding his first 100 put in a great time of 3.58.43. Derek Howlett PB by 5 mins to finish in a time of 4.17.07 and David Mackey was riding well untill a bout of sickness brought his ride to an end after 80 miles.The winner was Keith Coffy of the Bec cc in 3.48.35 a new course record.

Gary - Champion of the World

Gary Chalkley of our Kent Cycles Team is the current Kent Champion, winning the Kent Best All Rounder competition with an average speed of almost 24mph over the 25, 50, 100 and 12 hour TT’s.

Gary has also won the Kent 12 hour competition with a distance of 250.801 miles.

He rides a Look 486 with Zipp 999 Wheels - both are available on our website or at either of our shops - Geoff Wiles Cycles in Strood or Kent Cycles in Maidstone.
